A bird built a nest in a hanging basket right next to Natalie's bedroom window. We got some momma feeding baby pictures but things got interesting when momma was teaching the baby to fly. The baby was doing ok until it tried to land in the hot tub. Roger scooped it out with the pool net and Joanie instantly bonded with the baby. She was able to pick it up and return it to the nest.
It's amazing what you can see when you look around your yard. There's an Eastern Bluebird making his home in our area. We're lucky - Houston is on the extreme western edge of their habitat. There are also pictures here of ducks sitting in a tree and on power lines. That must be difficult with their webbed feet! We do have a few hawks in the area - Joanie got some good picture of this one - especially the one in flight. Wind up this section with bumblebees, butterflys and dragonflys.
Jali (Patricks dog) can usually be found laying next to someone's feet in the house. But when she gets to go outside she has a whole new personality. She does everything with gusto whether it be running with a ball - or chasing stray cows - or even playing with her favorite cat (Ringo lets Jali drag her around the yard like a stuffed animal!) On the topic of cats - we have two indoor Persians who want to be outdoor cats, and three outdoor cats who are lazy but do catch a few mice now and again.
Both of Joanie's thumbs are green - she keeps our yard colorful year round. The sunsets ain't bad either.
