Katie and Joseph's wedding was planned for July21st in Powell River British Columbia. (Actually it was nearer to Lund BC but more about that later.) Hank and Alice, Sara, and Joanie, Nicole, Natalie and I all arranged to join in the celebration. We all were on different schedules. Hank and Alice arrived on the 20th and left on 24th several days after the wedding. Sara arrived on the 14th, spent some time with Anne in Vancouver before they both traveled to Powell River on the 17th. Natalie, Nicole, Joanie and I Arrived in Vancouver on the 13th - spent a few hours with Anne before heading off to Tofino on the western edge of Victoria Island. After vacationing a few days, we met up with the rest of the family in Powell River on the 17th.
I can say is - What a Wedding!!! Joseph and Katie are both active hikers on the Sunshine Coast Trail. They chose a beautiful spot on the trail called Manzanita Bluff (named for the many Manzanita shrubs on the bluff). The wedding was at 9:30 Saturday morning. Joseph and Katie had lined up 5 or 6 friends with 4 wheel drive vehicles to take us to the trail head (I never heard the official count but i think something like 50 people made the trek.) Joseph's mom organized all the vehicles starting at 7:00am. From the Trail head it was about an hour hike to the bluff (some faster and some slower and then there's the snail!) Joseph and crew had cleared the trail a few days earlier so the vehicles and hikers could have better access. We wedding was awesome as the pictures show. We were fortunate that the rain held off until the last of the hikers had made it back to their cars. After the wedding we started setting up for the reception. It rained pretty much the whole afternoon and evening but J&K planned for that possibility by having a giant tent setup at the reception. Again - the pictures show that a good time was had by all.
